[Case Study] Visualizing the Stress of Snow Removal Workers with Biometric Sensors
Proving the difference between skilled and unskilled workers with data. DX of safety education.
In the snow removal work in Rumoi City, Hokkaido, the mental load experienced by workers was analyzed using the "LF/HF" index. It was confirmed that inexperienced workers tend to have greater heart rate variability and maintain higher values of the stress index "LF/HF" compared to experienced workers. By cross-referencing behaviors extracted from acceleration data with stress values, it is possible to identify which operations are causing psychological burden. This quantified data is being utilized as a tool for effective skill transfer and safety education. *For comparison data and detailed analysis examples between experienced and inexperienced workers, please refer to the materials.

AffordSense Inc. is a university venture established in November 2013 to deliver the research outcomes of the "Research and Development of Band-Aid Type Biosensors" project, initiated by Professor Kazuhisa Maenaka of the Graduate School of Engineering at Hyogo Prefectural University, as part of the Strategic Creative Research Promotion Project (ERATO). We aim not only to commercialize research results but also to further challenge human sensing, advancing research and development to contribute to areas such as health management, early detection and prevention of diseases, and hazard prediction for the human body.
