[Case Study] Preventing fatigue and heat stroke in long-distance drivers using biometric sensors.

Monitoring a truck driver driving in Joso City, Ibaraki Prefecture for 24 hours.

This is a case study of a demonstration experiment aimed at ensuring driver safety in the transportation industry, where long working hours are a challenge. It continuously collects heart rate data and core body temperature of drivers while driving and automatically determines whether they have reached a dangerous level for heatstroke. Additionally, by applying wavelet transformation to acceleration data, it is also possible to automatically generate daily reports for driving, loading and unloading, and breaks. With just one wearable device, we promote the digital transformation (DX) of the transportation industry by simultaneously achieving health management and operational efficiency. *Analysis charts for the driver monitoring system are detailed in the materials.

AffordSense Inc. is a university venture established in November 2013 to deliver the research outcomes of the "Research and Development of Band-Aid Type Biosensors" project, initiated by Professor Kazuhisa Maenaka of the Graduate School of Engineering at Hyogo Prefectural University, as part of the Strategic Creative Research Promotion Project (ERATO). We aim not only to commercialize research results but also to further challenge human sensing, advancing research and development to contribute to areas such as health management, early detection and prevention of diseases, and hazard prediction for the human body.
