■□■Features■□■ In steel mills, cooling water is used to prevent contamination by lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, and cooling emulsions, as well as to prevent these liquids from contaminating the cooling water. In electric furnaces, double-wall plate heat exchangers are used to prevent cooling water from mixing with transformer oil, eliminating the risk of explosion. In addition to the significant advantage of preventing the mixing of the two fluids used, double-wall plate heat exchangers are superior to equivalent products such as double-wall shell and tube heat exchangers. Double-wall plate heat exchangers typically achieve 2 to 3 times the heat transfer coefficient compared to shell and tube types. This allows for a smaller heat transfer area, which can significantly reduce equipment costs, especially when stainless steel plates or special materials are required.
