The joint research group, consisting of the team leader of the Quantum Computer Research Center at RIKEN (Deputy Director of the Quantum Computer Research Center and Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering, University of Tokyo), the team leader of the Photonic Quantum Control Research Team, and the CEOs of NTT Corporation and Fixstars Amplify, has succeeded in developing a new type of quantum computer. This will serve as a platform for advanced general-purpose photonic quantum computing. Quantum computers are expected to solve various problems at ultra-high speeds by utilizing the principles of quantum mechanics, leading to intense development competition worldwide. The RIKEN Quantum Computer Research Center also unveiled a superconducting quantum computer in 2023.
