The weight of the new press is approximately 60 tons, which is about twice that of the existing press! Case study of the SL400 hydraulic gantry.
Before Rangemaster installed the new 1,200-ton ring frame hydraulic press, it was necessary to remove the existing hydraulic double-action press. Additionally, the existing printing machine on the second floor had to be dismantled, lifted, and lowered to be moved to the first floor through some limited spaces. To accomplish this, the SL400 hydraulic gantry was used to lift the crown and base of the existing press onto load skates. Two gantry units that were on the first floor were moved to the second floor, where they lifted the press and transported it to the new foundation. The press was then lifted from a horizontal position to a vertical position and lowered onto the fixing bolts.
