As an engineer, there are times when you are faced with the choice of "depth" or "breadth" in mastering technology. As an organization, a company also needs members who have a "shallow and broad" skill set. When it comes to wanting to "master" something, I believe that, except for a few geniuses, one must choose one or the other to avoid overwhelming their brain capacity. I think our engineers are faced with this choice around five years after joining the company, even for those who are quick to adapt. Choosing "depth" doesn't mean focusing on just one field. It can also involve mastering a second field, and sometimes the first field may suddenly be replaced by a different theory. The choice of programming languages and other tools is similar. Some engineers are adept at using various languages, while others may only use one language, yet for some reason, the programs they write run at high speed. Even though we refer to ourselves as a group of engineers, "ten people, ten colors" applies here. Our company motto, "One person, one skill," is also a reflection of this idea. *News is distributed through our company newsletter.
