[Image Processing] A camera is mounted in the driver's seat. Autonomous driving using only camera footage.

An easy-to-understand demo of image processing technology. Automatic driving of N-gauge trains using only the camera footage from the driver's seat.

This is a technical appeal from a company that develops image processing. "We created a demonstration for an exhibition to show how much we can assist with what the 'human eye' does. We mounted a small camera in the driver's seat of a small N-gauge train. The camera is a pinhole camera, and the images are wireless, so the quality is very poor. We challenged ourselves to see 'how far we can go' under these unfavorable conditions. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

basic information

Two trains, each equipped with a camera, operate on a single track. Only at the station is there a switch, and when one train arrives at the station (knowing it is at the station because its home signal is red), it automatically stops. Once it stops, the switch changes, and the train that is stopped on the opposite platform starts moving. There are also signals along the track, and when the camera detects a yellow signal, it operates at a reduced speed. This process is repeated. If the goal is automatic operation of N-gauge trains, the same thing can be reliably accomplished with a microcontroller sequencer. This demo aims to explore "how far can we go with camera images?" and assumes "assistance" in cases where a human is driving. If you can understand that such fun things can be realized through "image processing," then the goal is achieved. When customers want to realize something, they might casually think, "Let's consult that N-gauge demo company (Apollo Seiko, Shin-Yokohama Office)." *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.*
