[Image Processing] Signal Recognition & Driving Control *Demo video available
With just one PC, it can perform both "line recognition" and "signal recognition" simultaneously, and control a Lego car via Bluetooth!
This is a technical appeal from a company specializing in image processing. We connect a camera mounted on LEGO via wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) and perform both 'white line recognition' and 'signal recognition' simultaneously using just one PC, controlling the LEGO car via Bluetooth. The challenge in image processing is to solve how to achieve performance without compromising simplicity, thereby expanding the range of applications for the solutions. ■ Driving Control Considering the limited amount of information transmitted via wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) and Bluetooth, as well as potential time lags, the key point is how simply we can achieve directional control. The system operates by making gradual corrections, similar to how a human driver would: if it veers too far to the right, it corrects to the left, and if it veers too far to the left, it corrects to the right. ■ Signal Recognition We took on the surprisingly challenging task of recognizing 'color' with a computer. The perception of 'color' changes based on the color components in the light source and the reflectivity of the object, both for human eyes and cameras. Additionally, we addressed the issue of not being able to know the characteristics of the light source in various environments, such as offices or exhibition venues, by incorporating a feature that allows the system to learn 'color' on-site.
