Firefighting piping fittings (Su fittings) Benkan Kiko
Using stainless steel piping for fire protection systems offers many advantages!
Are you thinking, 'It's impossible because stainless steel piping is too expensive'? By using stainless steel for fire protection piping, you can extend the lifespan of the piping system due to the corrosion resistance characteristic of stainless steel compared to carbon steel. Additionally, the strength of stainless steel allows for thinner piping, making it possible to save space. In the case of stainless steel, the weight of the piping can be reduced to about 70% of that of carbon steel, so you can easily understand its strength and space-saving benefits. This also leads to reduced labor costs on-site. Benkan Kiko's pipe fittings (Su fittings) are approved for use under the Fire Service Act and have obtained JIS standard certification (JIS B 2309). The trusted brand Benkan Kiko's Su fittings, used not only for fire protection systems but also for general piping stainless steel, will assist you in converting fire protection piping to stainless steel. In March 2020, the amount of hexavalent chromium compounds was revised in the "Ordinance to Partially Amend the Ordinance on Water Quality Standards," and our company has conducted leaching performance tests under the new standards, ensuring that our Su fittings meet the revised water quality standards.
basic information
In recent years, general piping stainless steel pipes (JIS G 3448) and pipe fittings (JIS B 2309) have been adopted for fire extinguishing equipment. According to the Fire Service Act, when using stainless steel piping (pipes, fittings, etc.) for fire extinguishing equipment, JIS standard products are specified, so if there is no JIS certification, additional procedures such as type approval from the Fire and Disaster Management Agency are required. Benkan Kiko has obtained JIS certification for Su pipe fittings (JIS B 2309), so they can be used as is without any additional procedures. Su fittings are welded pipe fittings used for connecting to general piping stainless steel pipes (JIS G 3448) and are sometimes referred to as thin-walled fittings, as they are relatively thin-walled fittings. The pipe ends are processed with beveling suitable for automatic welding (plain end). In 2009, a new Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS B 2309) was established from the group standard of the Stainless Steel Association (SAS 354), and our company also obtained JIS certification for Su fittings in 2011.

Applications/Examples of results
General piping stainless steel pipes and fittings are used for water supply, hot water supply, chilled and warm water, cooling water, steam return water, and connection water pipes for fire protection equipment, among others. *Only companies that have obtained fire protection certification for pipe end flared fittings can use them for connection water pipes and fire extinguishing piping.*
