You can see the effects of additives on BYK YouTube. Defoaming Test; Air is incorporated into the blue paint by a stirrer under constant conditions (speed, time). The paint is flowed onto a vertically positioned (slightly inclined) polyester film. The difference in foam stability is clearly visible between the sample on the left (without defoamer) and the sample on the right (with BYK defoamer). Wetness of Pigments; Organic pigment (Phthalocyanine Blue) is added to water. The pigment remains floating on the surface of the water and does not get wet (the process is very slow, and wetting is not visible). When BYK additive droplets are added, the organic pigment becomes instantly wet. The speed of pigment wetting dramatically improves.
