BYK YouTube Coil Coating (with stirring/without stirring) Test

You can see the effects of additives on BYK YouTube. Coil application (with stirring / without stirring) test; This is a testing method that evaluates the stability of pigments through a lab-out test by blending the paint just before application. The paint sample is stored at room temperature overnight and then divided into two parts. One is stirred for 1 minute at 6 m/s using a serrated blade (this simulates the high shear stress in a coil coating line during application). The other is not stirred. Both are applied side by side on a panel using a wire bar coater. A color difference is observed between the stirred and unstirred samples. Next, a lab-out test is conducted, where a color difference is also evident. Then, the panel is baked (320 °C, 30 seconds). Poor performance of the paint is due to insufficient stability of the pigments. The same procedure is repeated with another paint sample where the pigments are fully stabilized by additives. In the lab-out test, no color difference is observed between the blended and unblended samples (or the difference is minimal).
