Benard cells: Microscopic observation of the separation and distribution of pigment particles (blue/red).
Phthalocyanine blue and titanium dioxide blue paint. When observed under a microscope, Benard cells can be confirmed. Material rises from the center of the cell to the surface, then flows along the surface and sinks back into the interior at the periphery of the cell. In this system, the pigment particles are not sufficiently stabilized, and due to this strong flow in the cell, the two pigment particles separate. The mobilities of the white and blue pigment particles are different, leading to their separation at the cell periphery.
- Blue paint de-foaming test;
Defoam the foam of the water-based blue paint with a defoamer. Shake the blue paint in the container. The foam disappears with the addition of the defoamer.

Defoaming bubbles in water-based blue paint with a defoamer.
