Processing examples of partially cut gasket lower parts.
Special shape support through water jet processing.
■Overview of Processing Example This case involves the processing of a gasket with a lower cut using the V6500 joint sheet. The outer circumference is primarily circular in shape, but it features a linear cut at the lower part of the gasket, which was specified to avoid interference with the equipment structure and surrounding components. The bolt holes are evenly spaced, requiring a balance between hole position accuracy and outer shape precision. In this case, water jet processing was adopted without using a die. By continuously processing the arc section and the lower cut section, we achieved the reproduction of the shape as per the design data and improved positioning accuracy during assembly.
basic information
■Product Features (Material) The V6500 is a general-purpose joint sheet made primarily of non-asbestos fibers and heat- and oil-resistant rubber. It is compatible with a wide range of fluids, including water, oil, and air, and is used for sealing applications in various piping and equipment. It excels in balancing cost-effectiveness and ease of handling, and has a proven track record as a standard gasket material. ■Processing Method (Water Jet Cutting) Water jet cutting is a method that uses high-pressure water to cut materials. It processes by spraying high-pressure water. The injection nozzle can be changed according to the processing material, allowing for the production of high-quality products in a short time. Additionally, the dimensional tolerances that were significantly affected by traditional manual processing are greatly improved, resulting in stable processing accuracy. The taper on the cut surface from press processing can also be improved with water jet cutting.

■Frequently Asked Questions (Q&A) Q1. Can you accommodate shapes with a cutout at the bottom? A. Yes. We can accommodate shapes with a bottom cutout based on CAD data. Q2. Is a die necessary? A. No die is needed as we can manufacture using water jet processing. Q3. What level of hole position accuracy can be ensured? A. We process with stable accuracy for both the outer shape and hole positions based on the design data. Q4. Is it possible to handle small lots or prototypes? A. We can accommodate prototypes and small lots. Q5. Can you handle shape changes or dimensional differences? A. We can flexibly accommodate shape and dimensional differences through data modifications. ■Daiko's Capability Daiko has a track record of processing special shape gaskets, including bottom cutouts, for various joint sheets, starting with the V6500. We provide consistent support from the selection of processing methods to prototypes, small lots, and mass production based on design data.
