Processing examples of NBR sponge frame-shaped seals.
Compatible with a two-part structure using water jet processing.
■Overview of Processing Example Product Name: Frame-Shaped Seal (Two-Part with C) Dimensions: t3 × 416W × 1280L (φ9-16) This processing example involves the production of a frame-shaped sealing material used in industrial equipment enclosures. Given its long length and the shape that surrounds an opening, a two-part structure and a positioning C shape were specified to consider the assembly workability and transportability on-site. The client's industry is related to industrial equipment. To ensure prevention of misalignment during assembly and stable sealing performance, shape accuracy and reproducibility were emphasized. Water jet processing was selected for its flexibility in accommodating shape changes and divisions without using a die, achieving both dimensional accuracy and assembly compatibility, including at the division points.
basic information
■Product Features (NBR Rubber) NBR (Nitrile Rubber) is a synthetic rubber with excellent oil resistance, making it ideal for seals in fuel oils and lubricants. It also boasts superior mechanical strength and abrasion resistance, and is widely used in O-rings, gaskets, hoses, and more. However, due to its low weather resistance and ozone resistance, it is not suitable for outdoor use and is mainly utilized in indoor hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. ■Processing Method (Water Jet Cutting) Water jet cutting is a hydraulic cutting machine that uses high-pressure water to cut materials. It processes by spraying high-pressure water. The injection nozzle can be changed according to the processing material, allowing for the production of high-quality products in a short time. Additionally, the dimensional tolerances achieved through traditional manual processing are significantly improved, resulting in stable processing accuracy. The taper of the cut surface from press processing can also be improved with water jet cutting.

■Q&A Q: Why was a two-part structure adopted? A: A split structure was necessary to improve transportability and facilitate assembly work on-site. Q: Can accuracy be maintained even with long and frame-shaped designs? A: Water jet processing ensures stable dimensional accuracy even for long shapes. Q: Is it possible to consult before finalizing the drawings? A: We respond from the stage of shape consideration and processing method proposals based on usage conditions and installation environments. ■Daiko's Capability At Daiko, we provide comprehensive support for sealing materials and gasket products for industrial equipment, from material selection to processing method proposals and shape considerations. Utilizing water jet processing, we can flexibly accommodate prototype responses without using molds, small lot production, and custom specifications such as two-part, frame shapes, and positioning processing. We also support consultations from the design stage to help create products suitable for site conditions.
