CMP-xx corresponds to CWDM wavelengths (1270 to 1610 nm) with a wavelength spacing of 20 nm according to the ITU-T Grid, multiplexing the corresponding wavelengths onto a single core and using an optical filter to demultiplex the combined wavelengths. It reduces the number of optical fibers used from two cores to one core. Additionally, there are filters that only allow specific wavelengths to pass, making it compatible with dark fiber.
