Edmund Optics (EO), the U.S. headquarters of the Japanese corporation Edmund Optics Japan Co., Ltd., has celebrated its 75th anniversary. The company was founded in 1942 as Edmund Salvage. Since creating its first Edmund Scientific catalog in 1943, it has focused on customer service. During the space race of the 1950s and 60s, it provided components, and a 95-cent barlow lens was used in the color camera for the Apollo 11 lunar exploration. Since 2000, it has manufactured high-precision spherical components, optical prisms, and high-quality optical coatings. In the mid-2000s, machining equipment for magnetorheological finishing (MRF) and aspheric manufacturing facilities were added to its optical manufacturing tools. Currently, it offers over 28,900 products, continuously adding thousands of new items each year, ranging from optics to optomechanics and imaging. With its illustrious 75-year history, it continues to move forward towards a bright future in optics.
