Neutron activation analysis services for archaeology, earth science, and geology.
Neutron activation analysis can accurately quantify multiple elements simultaneously. It is capable of analyzing various materials such as soil, minerals, rocks, and sediments.
Advantages of Neutron Activation Analysis 1) Analysis can be performed with a small amount of sample (approximately a few mg to a few g). 2) A wide range of analyzable concentrations, from ppm or ppb (standard is ppm) levels to several tens of percent. 3) High precision (uncertainty: standard 4-5%). 4) Does not depend on the physical shape or chemical state of the analyzed elements; standardization of the same matrix composition is unnecessary. Analyzable Elements A) Elements requiring long irradiation for analysis: Ag, As, Au, Ba, Br, Ca, Ce, Cd, Co, Cr, Cs, Er, Eu, Fe, Ga, Ge, Gd, Hf, Hg, Ho, Ir, K, La, Lu, Mo, Nb, Nd, Os, Pd, Pr, Pt, Rb, Re, Ru, Sb, Sc, Se, Sm, Sn, Sr, Ta, Tb, Te, Th, Tm, U, W, Yb, Zn, Zr B) Elements that can be analyzed with short irradiation: Al, Ca, Cl, Cu, Dy, I, In, Mg, Mn, Na, Rh, Ti, V C) DNAA method (short irradiation): U ◎ For more details, please refer to the PDF document.
basic information
Main Uses Archaeology (analysis of main component elements in artifacts and ruins) Space Science (analysis of constituent elements in meteorites) Earth Environment (elemental analysis of fossil fuels, minerals, atmospheric dust, and elements contained in plants and soil) Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics (checking for contamination of impurity elements) Food (analysis of the proportion of elements that make up nutrients) Industrial and Manufacturing (for example, analysis of trace impurity elements in high-purity Si) *Analysis Report The analysis report will be provided in an editable spreadsheet (Excel format), including mass fraction, uncertainty, and estimated detection limits when mass fractions cannot be specified. *Delivery Time for Analysis Reports A) Elements requiring long irradiation for analysis: approximately 8-9 weeks B and C) Elements that can be analyzed with short irradiation: approximately 2-3 weeks *Regarding Samples Please submit in solid or powder form. Examples: minerals, soil, food, biological preparations, etc. Please send in glass vials (with plastic lids, not iron or aluminum) or properly sealed plastic bags. *Disposal of Samples In principle, samples will be disposed of in the irradiation furnace. ◎ For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
