The shape of chips during cutting can be evaluated using the cutting simulation of "AdvantEdge FEM." In this case, the changes in the 3D chip shape when cutting aluminum alloy were evaluated through simulation. It was found that the chip curl diameter and thickness changed significantly with only the adjustment of the rake angle.
