Near the HEPA filter of the air purifier, Klaran WD (a UVC LED for sterilization by Asahi Kasei) and Klaran LE (LE-17A-1V-S1, a UVC LED module for air and surface sterilization by Asahi Kasei) are installed. During operation, UV light is emitted onto the filter surface, instantly suppressing (i.e., sterilizing) the captured bacteria and viruses. Daikin Industries, Ltd. has revealed that the air purifier equipped with Klaran (ACB50X-S), released by the company in April 2021, can suppress over 99% of viruses captured by the "antibacterial HEPA filter" within 30 minutes and can suppress bacteria approximately 10 times faster than conventional methods.
