Press flange pressure durability test video
Ultra-lightweight easy-installation press flange
What is a press flange: A press flange is an ultra-lightweight steel flange. It is characterized by its lightweight and easy installation, having been reduced to one-third the weight of conventional products through the pressing method. Background of the test: Due to concerns about durability raised by the unique appearance of the press flange, a pressure test was conducted.
basic information
Introduction of the test apparatus: A non-asbestos gasket is placed at the joint of the loose flange, and the bolts are tightened with a torque of 106 N·m. The completed pressure vessel is filled with water and pressurized stepwise using a hand pump. Testing method: First, the pressure is increased to 1.75 MPa and held for 3 minutes. If no abnormalities such as leaks are observed, the pressure is then increased to 2.5 MPa and further increased stepwise until a leak occurs. The 1.75 MPa reference is based on JIS 2329, while the 2.5 MPa reference follows the SAS 322 testing standards of the Stainless Steel Association. The flange diameter used is the 65A, which has the worst pressure resistance conditions among the lineup.

Applications/Examples of results
As a result of continuing the pressure increase, water leakage was confirmed at the flange joint at 4.8 MPa. Additionally, the leakage was limited to the area between the flange and the gasket, and no other abnormalities such as deformation, breakage, or disconnection were observed, proving that the press flange has the same robustness as other steel flanges.
