■ Three Capabilities to Solve On-Site Challenges 1. Avoiding communication errors due to extreme outdoor temperature fluctuations (from the scorching heat of midsummer to sub-zero temperatures in midwinter) SaFT accommodates a wide operating temperature range, including high temperatures from direct sunlight and cold snaps in winter, achieving stable pulse output at both high and low extremes. This minimizes the risks of "resend costs" and "on-site investigations" associated with data loss. 2. Achieving maintenance-free operation through "long lifespan characteristics" and optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO) With an extremely low self-discharge rate, SaFT enables long-term operation and reduces the frequency of battery replacements. [Case Study] Paris Water Authority: Optimization of Smart Meter Operations [Challenges] It was necessary to accurately understand the remaining lifespan of each meter based on the actual usage conditions of the meters installed on-site. Additionally, the conventional uniform replacement cycle could lead to discrepancies with actual usage conditions, resulting in increased costs due to excessive replacements and risks of unexpected failures. [Measures and Results] To continue data acquisition, we analyzed the batteries collected from the field to assess the condition and degradation status of the meters. - Inspection of battery appearance and structure (corrosion, leakage, damage, etc.) - Measurement of remaining capacity through SaFT's unique analysis - Verification of discharge characteristics and self-discharge - Measurement of internal battery conditions - Analysis of power consumption data based on actual usage environments From these results, we clarified factors affecting lifespan, such as temperature, installation location, and humidity. Based on this, we derived measures to optimize battery lifespan. As a result, it became possible to make planned maintenance and renewal decisions, achieving optimization of meter asset management. SaFT not only provides the batteries themselves but also analyzes factors affecting lifespan and offers recommendations for optimal usage and management methods.
