UHF Band RFID Beam Variable Antenna for Energy Infrastructure
Supporting the efficiency of equipment inspections! Beam-variable antennas that reduce RFID tag misreads.
In equipment inspections, it is essential to accurately and efficiently grasp the condition of equipment that is widely dispersed. In particular, reliably reading the information from RFID tags assigned to the equipment being inspected directly impacts the accuracy and speed of the inspection work. However, due to radio wave interference from surrounding structures or other devices, or depending on the installation position of the tags, misreads or missed reads of RFID tags can occur, potentially leading to inspection omissions or delays in work. Our product, the "UHF Band RFID Beam Variable Antenna," addresses these challenges by electronically controlling the radiation direction to optimize the detection area and reduce misreads of RFID tags, thereby contributing to the efficiency and reliability of equipment inspections. 【Usage Scenarios】 - Inspection of extensive infrastructure equipment (power plants, substations, transmission lines, pipelines, etc.) - Accurate tag reading in environments with significant radio wave interference - Improving the efficiency of inspection work and enhancing the accuracy of data collection 【Benefits of Implementation】 - Pinpoint reading of RFID tags in the inspection area, reducing misreads - Speeding up inspection work and reducing the burden on workers - Supporting maintenance planning through improved accuracy of equipment management data collection - Enhancing work efficiency in extensive equipment inspections
basic information
【Features】 - Active phased array antenna with electronically controlled beam direction - Variable radiation direction of radio waves in three directions based on external input signals - Controllable from the reader's GPIO port - By scanning the beam direction, it can roughly determine the position of tags - Expected reduction in misreads through a combination of switching radiation areas and software processing - Useful for gates that respond only to tags in specific areas by narrowing down the tag's position - Can be used as a narrow directional antenna without scanning the radiation direction 【Our Strengths】 Since its establishment 40 years ago, Mineko Electronics Co., Ltd. has developed its business based on antenna and connector technology. We will continue to deliver top-class antenna solutions as the best partner in the world of standard antennas, boasting stable performance backed by years of technology, and custom antennas for various communication devices (such as radios, measuring instruments, railways, satellite launch rockets, and automotive applications) with high technology and trust. We engage in the development, manufacturing, and sales of standard antennas, contract design, manufacturing, and sales of antennas for communication devices, and contract design, manufacturing, and sales of cable assembly products with coaxial connectors.

What is Technical Standards Compliance Certification (Giteki)?
"Technical Standards Conformity Certification," commonly known as "Giteki," refers to the "government approval" necessary for safely using wireless devices (such as smartphones, Wi-Fi routers, transceivers, etc.) in Japan without affecting other communications. To put it simply... For example, products that use wireless technology emit "radio waves." If these radio waves are too strong or the frequency is incorrect, there is a risk of adversely affecting devices like televisions or emergency radios. Therefore, in Japan, only products that have been certified to comply with regulations regarding radio wave emissions can be used, and this certification is indicated by the Giteki mark. ■ Where can you find the Giteki mark? The Giteki mark can be displayed on the product itself or in the settings screen, and products with this mark are legally usable wireless devices in Japan. ■ What happens if you use a product without Giteki? Using devices that have not received Giteki certification in Japan may result in a violation of the Radio Law. For instance, smartphones or transceivers purchased overseas often lack the Giteki mark, and using them in Japan can be illegal, so caution is advised.

What is an anechoic chamber? Is it really necessary?
An anechoic chamber is a "special room" used to test the performance and safety of wireless devices. In a regular room, invisible waves from smartphones, Wi-Fi, and televisions are present, making it impossible to conduct accurate tests on devices. Therefore, an anechoic chamber is a special space that "completely shuts out external waves" and also ensures that "waves inside do not leak outside." When is it used? - Testing and inspection of wireless devices - Testing for obtaining technical standard conformity certification (Giteki) - Confirming that there is no interference from waves to other devices In other words, it is "an essential place for creating accurate and reliable wireless devices." What is the inside of the room like? - The walls, ceiling, and floor are covered with "sponge-like materials that absorb waves (wave-absorbing panels)." - The entire room is covered with a metal shield to prevent external waves from entering. Why is it so important? Wireless devices can significantly impact medical equipment, airplanes, and fire department radios, depending on where they are used. That is why it is crucial to thoroughly verify that they emit waves correctly and safely in a place free from external influences, which is the anechoic chamber.

[New Product] UHF Band RFID Beam Variable Antenna [Expected to Reduce Misreads with Detection Area Control]
We have released an active phased array antenna that can vary the beam radiation direction in three directions based on external signals. By switching the radiation area, it is possible to respond only to specific areas. This allows it to be utilized as an RFID gate with fewer misreads. When used as a shoplifting prevention gate, it can be set up so that customers with RFID tags approaching the gate do not trigger an alert, thereby reducing stress caused by misidentification.
