This is a case where an automobile manufacturer, considering changing from an old-fashioned YAG laser to a fiber laser for equipment updates, requested proposals to reduce the introduction costs. In the customer's manufacturing line, a large number of laser welding machines were in operation, and each machine had been in use for a certain number of years. Moving forward, updating the laser welding equipment had become an unavoidable issue from a preventive maintenance perspective. We took the time to consider how to keep the overall investment cost low by updating the laser oscillator.
