[Predictive Maintenance Case] Stacker Crane Travel Axis

Understanding bearing deterioration through diagnostics linked to running speed! A case of avoiding sudden major failures.

We will introduce a case where a "VD-unit" was implemented in the running axis of a stacker crane, establishing a predictive maintenance system linked to operational information. Continuing to operate under excessive conditions without being able to quantitatively assess the deterioration of the wheel axle bearings resulted in a significant failure that required the replacement of the running unit, leading to high repair costs and a prolonged halt in shipments. It has been confirmed that the vibration values tend to increase in proportion to the running speed of the stacker crane. By not relying solely on vibration values, we conduct diagnostics linked to the running speed, achieving deterioration diagnosis of the bearings. [Case Overview] ■ Request: To realize predictive maintenance for the stacker crane ■ Challenge: Unable to quantitatively assess the deterioration of the wheel axle bearings, leading to significant failures ■ Measurement Point: Wheel axle section ■ Solution: Link operating conditions (speed command values) and vary thresholds *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
