Explanation of incorporating functional safety into machinery.
Functional safety is essential in the machine design process as it plays a crucial role in protecting the health of machine operators and maintaining continuous production. To ensure functional safety, it is necessary to apply the latest guidelines. Design guidelines that use standardized circuits and approved circuits help significantly reduce the effort of implementation. For over 10 years, DIN EN 60204-1 has guaranteed the safe design of electrical equipment for machines and plants. The underlying IEC 60204-1 standard was updated in 2016. Currently, the European version of the most widely used machine safety standard in the world has been published. This white paper outlines the most important changes for machine and plant manufacturers, starting with switchgear technology.
