The "pentaprism" is a pentagonal prism. Unlike a roof-shaped prism where the image rotates, it is possible to bend the light path by 90 degrees while keeping the image upright. (The inversion of the image is determined by the number of reflections. Since the pentaprism reflects an even number of times, the image does not invert.)
