[Development Case] Chrome Plating Process Using Conductive Diamond Electrodes

Introduction of a case where a chrome plating process using conductive diamond electrodes was developed!

In the chrome plating process, environmentally harmful hexavalent chromium, lead alloy electrodes, and perfluorosulfonic acid are used; however, Kamiya Riken aims to reduce the environmental impact of the chrome plating process by utilizing low-environmental-impact conductive diamond electrodes as a substitute for lead alloy electrodes. Conductive diamond electrodes have high oxidative power and excellent chemical stability, making them a promising alternative to lead alloy electrodes. Through joint research with local research institutions such as Shizuoka University and other companies, it has been discovered that conductive diamond electrodes can be used as a substitute for lead alloy electrodes, and efforts are currently underway to put this into practical use.
