Sprockets need to undergo additional processing such as hole machining, keyway machining, and tapping to fit the shaft they are mounted on in order to transmit power from motors and other sources. Generally, the dimensions for keyways and tapping are standardized according to JIS regulations based on the shaft hole, so the shaft sizes on the power side are also typically manufactured in accordance with JIS standards.
