Fibronectin Neosilk, Plasma and Fibronectin Neosilk, Cellular from Immunobiological Research Institute Co., Ltd. are recombinant plasma fibronectin and cellular fibronectin produced using silkworms that do not carry human infectious pathogens. They can be used as coating agents for various cultured cells, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs).

Fibronectin is one of the representative extracellular matrix proteins and regulates cell adhesion, extension, movement, proliferation, and differentiation. The plasma fibronectin, an isoform present in plasma, has been widely used as a scaffold material for cultured cells; however, since it is derived from human or animal blood, there is a risk of pathogen contamination, which poses a challenge. Additionally, cellular fibronectin is an isoform synthesized by cells to create their own growth environment and is said to excel in cell adhesion, extensibility, and promoting cell proliferation, but obtaining purified products has been difficult.
