The heterostructure PD from LED Microsensor is formed by sequentially epitaxially growing a semiconductor layer on the surface of a crystal substrate. Light is absorbed in the active layer of the PD, and the spectral sensitivity of the PD is determined by the energy gap of the materials that make up the active layer. Currently, we offer PDs with cutoff wavelengths of 2.4, 3.6, and 4.3 µm, and with light receiving areas of 0.3, 0.5, and 1 mm. At LED Microsensor, we manufacture mid-infrared light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in the range of 1.0 to 5.0 µm, photodetectors (PDs), as well as their drivers and evaluation kits. In these wavelength ranges, there are absorption bands for many important gases such as CH₄, H₂O, and CO₂, which can be applied to gas detection and concentration measurement. basic information
The standard PD from LED Microsenor is encapsulated in a TO-18 package, and there are models available with a concave reflector. Additionally, the TO-5 case incorporates either a single or dual-stage TEC (thermoelectric cooler). Several other types of packages are available, including models with built-in preamplifiers. *About PDs with built-in preamplifiers:* In PV (Photo Voltaic) mode, they operate with zero bias. The current generated by the PD is amplified by the preamplifier and converted into a voltage signal. There is a correlation between the PD current and the resulting output voltage. The signal converted by the preamplifier has the same format, frequency, and pulse width as the current signal from the PD. This product is equipped with a reflector and is packaged in an aluminum tube for protection and shielding. The reflector protects the PD body from damage and increases the amount of radiation reaching the sensing area of the PD.
