Ultra-small near-infrared spectroscopic sensor wins EU Horizon Prize.
The near-infrared analysis food module Food Scanner has won the European Commission's Horizon Prize. The Food Scanner, developed using infrared spectroscopic sensors manufactured by Spectral Engines, which is handled by KLV, has won the European Horizon Prize. The Horizon Prize is awarded by the European Commission for innovative products and technologies, and Spectral Engines will receive a prize of 800,000 euros. The Food Scanner accurately displays food, fat, protein, sugar, and total calories by utilizing a super-compact near-infrared spectral sensing module, advanced algorithms, cloud connectivity, and a vast materials library. It uses infrared spectroscopy for material detection, demonstrating high measurement performance in a compact size. Currently, the Food Scanner is not yet commercialized, but KLV handles various products from Spectral Engines' near-infrared spectroscopic sensor modules that can cater to a wide range of applications for both industrial and consumer use.
