Technical Data: Introduction to Ions, pH, and Dissociation Constants
A beginner's booklet that gently explains ions, pH, and dissociation constants 《Free download available now》
This is a guide for beginners who are handling analytical instruments such as titration devices, pH meters, and ion chromatographs for the first time. It can also be used as a training text, so supervisors who provide guidance are welcome to use it as well.
basic information
An ion is an atom (or a group of atoms formed by the combination of several atoms) that has either lost or gained one or more electrons. The process of becoming an ion by losing or gaining electrons is called ionization (or dissociation). At this time, the number of electrons lost (or gained) is referred to as the ion's valence or charge number, and it is indicated next to the original atom (or group of atoms) with the ion's valence (omitted if it is 1) and the sign of the charge, written as H+, Fe3+, Cl−, SO2−, etc.
