Mettler Toledo has begun handling the inventory management solution SmartShelf in Japan. It significantly contributes to the automation of inventory management as a solution to the labor shortage issue arising from the expansion of the logistics market in Japan. SmartShelf is a multi-channel weighing device that can be installed on each rack of a shelf, with standard models available in either a 4-pad type or a 6-pad type. Each pad functions as a scale, and SmartShelf has two RJ45 ports for communication, allowing multiple pads to be connected in a chain via a repeater, making it suitable for installation in large warehouses. SmartShelf enables inventory management through unit counting functionality and real-time monitoring of accurate parts picking during product assembly processes, and it can also be utilized as a measure to reduce human errors.
