Promoting a circular textile industry through the "Neochromato Process" for the reuse of sublimation dye ink decolorization technology in printed polyester - Advancing "reuse" beyond recycling towards a more agile circular economy industry.
Mimaki Engineering Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Togakushi, Nagano Prefecture; President: Kazuaki Ikeda), which specializes in industrial inkjet printers, cutting plotters, and 3D printers, will showcase the world's first technology for the "Neo-Chromato Process*" at ITMA 2023 (Location: Milan, Italy) in June 2023. This technology decolorizes sublimation transfer ink from printed polyester fabric, allowing for the reuse of the fabric, and proposes sustainability in the textile industry through the introduction of circular textile technology. *The name comes from the phenomenon where sublimation dyes, which are supposed to be permanent, leach out from the fibers and transfer to other substances like in chromatography. Features of the Neo-Chromato Process: - Decolorization is possible for polyester fabric dyed with sublimation dyes (sublimation transfer). - The process allows for decolorization with minimal water usage, resulting in industrial wastewater that is nearly zero. - Printing or dyeing can be done immediately on the decolorized fabric, allowing for color and pattern changes as many times as desired.
