We would like to introduce a case study of the implementation of Blickle's "swivel caster with wheel lock" by a major U.S. manufacturer of retail product storage and transportation carts. Previously, the company used swivel casters with brakes on both the wheel and the swivel section, but the fixed swivel section frequently broke due to vibrations during transport. As a solution, the new casters adopted a wheel lock without a brake on the swivel section. As a result, the wheel lock "FIRA" significantly reduced failures and damage during transport, and the lever no longer hit the bottom plate of the cart, making locking and unlocking much easier. [Challenges] ■ The fixed swivel section frequently broke due to vibrations during transport. ■ We wanted a more user-friendly lock.
