Color Story: The World of Colors in Three-Dimensional Space of the Three Stimulus Values XYZ

When the eyes receive light, it is divided into red, green, and blue components and transmitted to the brain, where colors are recognized.

The "tristimulus values XYZ" are psychophysical quantities of the CIE color space method, which recognizes color through three components as established by international standards (CIE/ISO). For example, the green color of a blackboard is represented by numerical values compared to an ideal white, with a red component of 5.5, a green component of 7.0, and a blue component of 7.2. In other words, colors are expressed as three-dimensional coordinate values in XYZ. [Method of Quantifying Color] ■ The reflected light from an object is spectrally analyzed to measure the spectral reflectance for each wavelength, and using the calculation methods specified in the standards, it is calculated and output as tristimulus values XYZ. ■ Through colorimetric calculations, the color represented by light at each wavelength can be expressed as three numerical values (three-dimensional coordinates). *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
