[Case Study on Trouble Improvement] Foaming in the Papermaking Process
Case Study: Foam in White Water Silos Reduced by Using the Optimal Defoamer!
Case Summary ■ Challenge Excessive foaming in white water silos, with limited effect even after adding defoamer. To prevent foam overflow from the silo, large amounts of defoamer were continuously added. ■ Approach A comparative lab evaluation was conducted using actual white water samples. Based on the results, a different type of defoamer was proposed. ■ Results In on-site trials, the new defoamer achieved better performance even with only one-third of the previous dosage, and although its unit price was 1.8 times higher, the total cost was reduced by 40%.
