Thermocouple and compensation wire Q&A: Effects when the connection part becomes high temperature.
I will answer the question about the impact when the sleeve temperature rises and the connection part between the thermocouple and the compensation wire becomes high temperature!
Depending on the installation environment of the thermocouple, the connection part (sleeve or terminal box) may become high in temperature. What are the effects? A: The negative effects due to the temperature rise of the sleeve are expected to be the following two: (1) When the measurement temperature is close to the sleeve temperature, the performance of the compensation wire will be more prominently outputted rather than the performance of the sheath thermocouple. (2) Exceeding the heat resistance temperature of the epoxy resin inside the sleeve may lead to disconnection or a decrease in insulation. *For more details, please refer to the related links for explanations about these phenomena and the effects of epoxy resin.
