Sequential biomimetic materials
It is possible to impart interspecies adhesion, improve stickiness, and enhance adhesion using catechol monomers, which can also provide wet adhesion.
Research has been conducted for many years on the idea that incorporating catechol groups into polymers used as adhesives or glues could provide adhesion and stickiness even in wet environments, based on the fact that the adhesive components of mussels attached to wet rocks contain catechol groups. Our company is developing monomers that contain catechol groups within their molecules, and we created an adhesive as a model to verify whether it can actually adhere to wet substrates, producing tape for testing. We have recorded a video of this process, so please take a look. *For more details, please download the PDF or contact us.*
