CdSe/ZnS Core-Shell Nanocrystals
Cadmium selenide/zinc sulfide core-shell nanocrystals
Cadmium selenide nanocrystals are cadmium selenide quantum dots coated with multiple layers of zinc sulfide, a semiconductor. The zinc sulfide coating around the cadmium selenide quantum dots serves to stabilize and protect the unique optical properties of the cadmium selenide quantum dots from damage due to environmental influences. Core/shell nanocrystals achieve the same absorption and emission characteristics as the cadmium selenide core while exhibiting brighter luminescence, superior stability, and processability, thereby increasing control over interfacial chemistry. These core/shell nanocrystals are provided in a state stored in water or nonpolar solvents.
