The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare will make heatstroke measures in the workplace mandatory for employers starting in June 2025 (Reiwa 7), with strict management and penalties. The measures apply to work conducted in environments where the "heat index" is 28 or higher, or where the temperature is 31 degrees Celsius or higher, for continuous periods of one hour or more, or four hours or more in a day. To protect workers in job sites and factories, installing windbreak rooms to partition spaces will enhance air conditioning efficiency and enable heat and heatstroke countermeasures.
