The Proformer is a non-destructive rebar detection device developed by Swiss Prosec. It accurately investigates the rebar condition of concrete structures and can measure the cover thickness and estimate the rebar diameter. The device employs a unique measurement principle called "pulse induction," where coils wrapped around the probe create a magnetic field. When ferromagnetic metals like rebar enter this magnetic field, it alters the field and changes the voltage. This voltage change is used to measure the cover thickness and estimate the rebar diameter. The Proformer 5+ utilizes the pulse induction method (electromagnetic induction method).
