Rotork recently installed the CVL linear actuator for control valves at the Didcot B power station (a power plant supplying electricity to the National Grid) and conducted commissioning adjustments. The Rotork CVL1500 and CVL5000 actuators control the supply of injection water used as emergency cooling water when the steam turbine trips. The CVL actuators were installed as part of a project to improve equipment reliability and address the aging of older plants. The CVL actuators are linear models of the electric actuators for process control, known as CVA. This CVL model operates on single-phase or DC power, providing very precise and responsive continuous adjustments of the control valve. By replacing existing actuators with the CVL, reliability has improved, and maintenance costs have been reduced. This unit enables highly accurate flow control with a resolution of over 0.1% and can also perform repeatable position control using a 4-20mA signal. The thrust of the CVL ranges from 890 N to 22,241 N (200 to 5,000 lbf).
