The "Grinder Robot System" is a device that automatically performs shape recognition and surface grinding of large valves used in nuclear power generation facilities and other applications. Traditionally, surface treatment of large valves with complex shapes was entirely done by workers using grinders, which was extremely labor-intensive. By equipping a robot with a laser scanner and synthesizing images based on the robot's coordinates, it becomes possible to recognize curved surfaces of large workpieces.
