Our company received the "Chairman's Award of the Japan Industrial Waste Management Association" at the 2012 Resource Recycling Technology and System Awards. The award ceremony will be held on November 29, 2012 (Thursday) at 13:15 at the Mechanical Promotion Hall (3-5-8 Shiba Park, Minato-ku, Tokyo, next to Tokyo Tower). The award was given for our project titled "Closed System for Plating Rinse Process Using Cylinder-Type Ion Exchange Equipment and Metal Resource Recovery by Resource Recycling Center," which has been recognized for its contribution to waste reduction and resource recycling over 36 years since its commercialization in 1976. This project features a system that purifies and enables the recycling of cleaning wastewater generated in the plating processes of mainly small and medium-sized businesses using cylinder-type ion exchange resin towers. Additionally, the saturated cylinder-type ion exchange resin towers are collected by the Resource Recycling Center for centralized regeneration. The nickel-containing sludge and copper-containing sludge obtained during the regeneration of ion exchange resin are reprocessed at smelters. Our company also recovers and reprocesses some metals as metal foils through electrolysis. With this system, we can reduce the water usage in our customers' rinsing processes by up to 1/10, and as a result of centralized processing, we have achieved efficient recovery of nickel-containing sludge and copper-containing sludge.
