Conventional electrode-type water level control has been a concern because the piping up to the water level electrode becomes stagnant water, raising fears of bacterial growth. The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (Notification dated September 19, 2019) has specified the following items regarding water level gauges in the revised guidelines for hygiene management in public baths. In particular, the requirement to remove biofilm at least once a week using appropriate disinfection methods is very challenging, so pressure sensor-type water level control is recommended! Excerpt: 2 Facility Equipment: First General Public Bath, 4 Bathing Rooms (18) The installation of water level gauges must have a structure that allows for the cleaning and disinfection of the piping, or be a sensor type that does not require piping. 3 Hygiene Management: First General Public Bath, Overall Management of the Facility (1) Facility maintenance must be cleaned and disinfected according to the table below, and kept clean and hygienic. Appropriate disinfectants should be used according to the materials, and necessary treatment must be conducted for environmental conservation when discharging into rivers and lakes.
