In semiconductor manufacturing equipment and clean rooms, as well as in manufacturing equipment and piping related to food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics, it may not be possible to use lubricants or anti-seizing measures such as plating or coating on bolts and nuts due to a strong aversion to impurities. General stainless steel bolts and nuts pose a risk of outgassing, and while chemically polished ones are also used, they tend to easily seize during tightening.
