In the event of a fire occurring inside a tunnel, the lighting fixtures will flash red. In that case, by stopping without entering the tunnel, we can minimize secondary damage. To avoid collisions with broken-down vehicles or accidents caused by falling objects, the lights will flash yellow, so please reduce your speed and drive carefully at that time. Until now, we have alerted drivers with text information only, but from now on, you will be able to understand that we are providing visual alerts. By adopting LED lighting, dark tunnels will become brighter, and by providing hazard information, traffic congestion is also expected to be alleviated. As a result, you will be able to enjoy a comfortable journey on your travel plans at home or during bus trips, arriving on time. Additionally, you will be able to avoid rear-end collisions caused by traffic jams in tunnels, ensuring a safe and secure trip. Japan's first! Developed and delivered a new tunnel LED lighting system using direct current power supply.
Hoshi and Electric Co., Ltd. has been supplying lighting fixtures for numerous roads and tunnels since 1957, when it delivered lighting fixtures for the Kanmon Tunnel, the world's first underwater tunnel at that time. In 2010, it supplied Japan's first LED tunnel lighting fixtures for the Enoura Tunnel, which is under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, continuously leading tunnel lighting in Japan. The newly developed tunnel LED lighting system, the first of its kind in Japan, features a power supply unit installed inside the electrical room, providing direct current to the lighting fixtures in the tunnel. This innovation allows for the miniaturization and lightweight design of the fixtures. While conventional products had the power supply unit within the fixture itself, this new product does not, enabling a reduction in size and significantly easing installation work. Additionally, by consolidating the power supply unit in the electrical room instead of within the fixture, maintenance has been simplified. Recently, we have supplied the tunnel LED lighting system for the Kyuuzan Tunnel (downhill L=1,704m) on National Route 185, under the jurisdiction of the Hiroshima National Route Office of the Chugoku Regional Development Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Hoshi and Electric Co., Ltd. has been supplying lighting fixtures for numerous roads and tunnels since 1957, when it provided lighting for the Kanmon Tunnel, the world's first underwater tunnel at that time. In 2010, it supplied Japan's first LED tunnel lighting fixtures for the Enoura Tunnel, which is the first LED tunnel lighting for national highways directly managed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, continuously leading tunnel lighting in Japan. The newly developed tunnel LED lighting system, the first of its kind in Japan, achieves miniaturization and weight reduction by installing the power supply unit inside the electrical room and supplying power to the lighting fixtures in the tunnel with direct current. While conventional products had the power supply unit within the fixture itself, this product allows for miniaturization since the power supply unit is not inside the fixture, significantly reducing installation work. Additionally, by consolidating the power supply unit in the electrical room rather than inside the fixture, maintenance has been simplified. The direct current-powered tunnel LED lighting adopts both the technology registered in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's New Technology Information System (NETIS) (CG-170008) and the technology for compact and lightweight LED tunnel lighting fixtures (TH-150008).
