Rubber products that continue to shrink and deform relatively slowly even after vulcanization, or those that contain volatile components in the rubber formulation, cannot avoid some degree of dimensional changes over time. For such products, it is generally recommended to let the rubber rest (aging) for a certain period after vulcanization before processing and measuring.
