Soldering plating technology
About Silvex's soldering plating technology
Our solder wetting coatings consist of four types of plating. 1. Solderable Nickel Plating (Electrolytic Nickel Plating for Soldering) This is an original technology developed by our company, featuring electrolytic nickel plating with solder wetting properties equivalent to tin plating. Characteristics: It has solder wetting properties comparable to tin plating due to electrolytic nickel plating, and since it is nickel plating, it does not generate whiskers, effectively reduces costs, balances appearance and surface hardness with solderability, and can be selected from barrel plating or jig plating. 2. Tin Plating Tin (English name: Tin, chemical symbol: Sn) is a metal with a low melting point of 232°C and excellent solder wetting properties. It is also a noble metal with excellent corrosion resistance, is soft and highly ductile, and has low toxicity. 3. Silver Plating (Matte) We provide high-precision silver plating primarily for industrial purposes, focusing on barrel plating. 4. Copper Plating Copper plating is widely used as a base layer for various types of plating. Particularly due to its excellent electrical conductivity, it has become an essential plating in the electronics field. Both jig and barrel plating methods are available.
basic information
Solderability (wetting ability) is typically measured using the wetting balance method (equilibrium method) to evaluate "zero cross" and "maximum wetting force." In this measurement, we commissioned a major testing organization (Oki Engineering Co., Ltd.) and used Resca's solder checker (SAT-5100) to conduct the measurement using the equilibrium method. The plated sample is suspended on an electronic balance and immersed in molten solder. The evaluation is based on the time it takes for the solder to wet from the contact angle between the sample and the molten solder to the flat and convex states, as well as the condition of the surface tension. *For more details, please refer to the solderability testing methods on Resca's website.
